National Retail Federation trade show 2012 (NRF12) came and went, and it was HUGE! 25,500 attendees, over 500 exhibiting companies, hour-long lines, and more sessions than you could hope to attend. Even if you attended, which we did, you couldn’t help but miss something great.
Luckily, NRF12 was also HUGE on twitter. We’ve sorted, searched, and analyzed over 5000 NRF12 tweets in order to bring you the NRF12 highlights that made you say “Wow!”
Let’s start with the top most-tweeted words associated with NRF12:
Unsurprisingly, “retail” was the top term associated with the show. But did you catch some of the terms further down the list? Mobile, customer, store, Clinton, solutions. These terms mirror the hottest NRF12 topics and moments.
Let’s drill down a little further. We searched all of the NRF12 tweets that contained the word “wow,” and pulled out the highlights. These tweets represent a list of the wow-worthy moments at #NRF12, a list that was created by attendees in real time.
One highlight that didn’t get captured in the above-list was President Clinton’s super session. Check out these tweets from attendees:
So what’s the takeaway from these tweets? One thing we takeaway is the extent to which technology has changed the retail landscape. “Mobile” was in the top ten most tweeted words, and the “wow-tweets” include themes like digital data and global collaboration. Perhaps most telling was the sheer volume of tweets that came out of a five-day show.
The retailers of today who want to be successful must find the right technologies that will help their business thrive. When it comes to the complexities of sales tax collection–the risk of audit, shifting jurisdictions, pending legislation–we’ve got the right technology. AvaTax cloud-based software provides services that make it simple for retailers to calculate rates, manage exemption certificates, file forms and remit payments. Best of all, AvaTax provides seamless, transparent integration with 100+ existing ERP, accounting, e-commerce and Retail POS systems.
